Facilitative mediation

This is when conflict parties are supported to come to an understanding of each other’s positions and interests to ideally co-generate an agreement on how to peaceably move forward. This is usually done using a series of remote or in-person meetings convened by a CSC representative so that parties have a safe space to raise issues of concern, influence decisions, and commit to a new relationship with each other. In this context, CSC representatives asks questions, reiterate, validate, and normalize parties’ views, and carefully assist parties to analyze their own and opposing views from different vantage points.
